Can You Name The Top 10 Dog Poisons?

I’ve been a dog mom for 15 years now so you’d think I’d have all the foods and substances that are dangerous to dogs memorized. But I’ve just learned a new one from a WebMD article: macadamia nuts.

What’s scary is that recently I dropped a container of the things on the kitchen floor and about 30 of them rolled around Mason’s little feet. I told him to wait at the kitchen door while I set about crawling around, cleaning (and cursing a little, I must admit) and pondering over whether macadamia nuts are bad for dogs. As soon as I decided they must be, I heard little feet behind me. I turned to see Mason had just returned to his position at the door. He was licking his lips and a wet nut was on the floor in front of him. Thank goodness he didn’t like it.

Check out the article, ”10 Dog Poisons: Plants, Food, Medicines and More” here.

  1. Just forwarded the link to the other half because he doesn’t always believe me when I tell him things. Thank you!

How scary that 30 macadamias fell. That would have been too much for a littledog like Mason, for sure. I wonder if I poisoned Mr T with his grapes :( He loved them so much.

Oh, jeez, I fed Daley grapes a few times, too! I did peel the skin off and I think that’s why I only gave them to him a few times, it was too much work! I’m still confused about some foods on the lists – I thought avocado was good their coats and I put a bit of garlic powder in Daley’s home-cooked meals towards the end of his life. His vet told me to but I read everywhere that garlic in any form is bad. Sigh. Hopefully, Daley and RBT aren’t comparing poisoning notes.

      Thanks for stopping by,

  2. Frightening, isn’t it? (I say, having been there, too!) Thank goodness he didn’t like the nut! Great post!

These little guys can get into too many things that can hurt them! I had to look up acorns after Sage brought me one after the other last year (and probably this year when they start falling).

Thanks for the comment. Yes, two in one month was a bit much. Sage is doing well…I think actually watching Toby die was a good thing for her. Although she’s a pretty sensitive dog, she doesn’t seem to be looking for him.
