Saturday, October 27, is National Pit Bull Awareness Day. The annual event and campaign to free all bully breeds of negative stereotypes and promote responsible ownership was started five years ago by Bless The Bullys, a rescue and education organization in Tennessee.
NPBAD could not have a more adorable supporter than than this little girl, who made a video love letter to her best friend—a “Staffie” rescue dog.
Now, on to the NPBAD events calendar! Find a fun list of happenings, by city and state, here.
We’re in Portland this weekend, where The Portland Pit Bull Project is hosting a walk and costume contest as part of its Coast to Coast Bully Walk national event. A street fair hosted by Oregon Humane Society will follow the walk.
Our pack is excited to support the cause and as the walk organizers put it: “show solidarity with all pit bull advocates and owners as well as with the many people and their dogs that have been affected by Breed Specific Legislation.”
