If you missed “Take Your Dog To Work Day” today don’t fret, the annual event takes place the first Friday after Father’s Day so there’s always next year. And you’ll have plenty of time to read the tips on the TYDTWDay site to help ensure that your dog is, ahem, suitable for work. Check out “Introducing Your Dog to New People and Pets” here. I love the suggestion to teach your dog to “shake hands” with people.
When we met Walter, he already had his own version of this trick down pat and I just about passed out from the cuteness the first time he showed it to us. If Walter catches a whiff of a treat, he lifts his left paw in the air and holds it there, patiently waiting. It’s freaking adorable. Mason has picked up on the trick’s popularity and now does it, too, although without the patience part!
If you’re looking for a more “casual Friday” feel, here’s a great step-by-step short video by Petfinder on how to teach your dog to wave!
