Now Read This: Behind The Scenes of Writing A Homeless Senior Dog’s Happy Ending

A fellow Oregon Humane Society volunteer shared a link to a great recent Los Angeles Times article and I must pass it on. The article, “Animal rescuers become a sick, abandoned dog’s many best friends,” details how the efforts of many saved a senior German Shepherd’s life and led him to meet his forever family. It’s the best kind of feel-good tale for who all who love senior dogs and pitch in to help homeless dogs when possible. “We all know and love this dog,” noted the OHS volunteer. “Perhaps by another name.”

The article is also a wonderful reminder that there is no better inspiration for volunteering than seeing the happiness your efforts help produce. Below, a screenshot from a Los Angeles Times video that accompanies the article shows healthy happy Rambo receiving admiring pets during a visit with people who knew him as a severely malnourished senior who had been abandoned in a junk yard but saw that his future could be bright.

Read the article and watch the accompanying video and slideshow here.
