Our friends at “Dogs in Brazil” report that Guga’s energy is great, his health issues are manageable and he has settled in beautifully with the pack since Jan and her husband, Carlos, rescued him from the streets two months ago. (You can read more details in previous “Our Buddies In Brazil” updates here.)
The 12-year-old has even taken up his first recreational activity since beginning his well-deserved retirement! “Guga is an ornithologist, which means he enjoys watching birds,” writes the dog blogger of the pack, Emmy. “He sits for hours looking at these lovebirds. This is his television and he is fascinated by it.”
It’s wonderful to see such a relaxed image of Guga when just a few months ago he was homeless and looked like this. Jan and Carlos currently have 14 other rescued street dogs at home and recently adopted a sweet senior dog whose family was killed by the floods that hit Brazil last month. (Jan and Carlos are both volunteers with the ongoing rescue and care efforts for animal survivors. Read more here.) Check out Emmy’s post about the cool hobbies enjoyed by other members of the pack at “Dogs In Brazil,” here and here.

How wonderful for Guga and the others that have been saved by these selfless people! Oh the birds are beautiful too!
Hi Heather!
Jan and Carlos have been rescuing street dogs for the past eight years. They truly are lifesavers. Hopefully, they will soon have some time to take a well-deserved rest and watch the birds with Guga!
Thanks for stopping by,
-Chandra
That is a great success story! We are glad to hear that Guga is safe and happy now!
That is a good hobby! I like to chase the birds too, it’s a terrier thing.

I’ll be you give them a run for their money, Wyatt!
Yesterday, we actually had the first snow to stick in the Portland, OR area. When you have time, check out these awesome photos of Wyatt’s snowball fight: http://wyattgardens.blogspot.com/2011/02/snowball-fight.html
You stay warm out there, Wyatt and give Stanzie her coat back!
