Each day, Uncle Walter takes a few pills that regulate this thyroid and calm his allergies. He is an absolute prince at pill time, gratefully gobbling down the meds, which are served with a spoonful of his canned prescription allergy diet food. (As you can see, his ready, willing and able attitude convinces Mason that a treat party is happening and he’s invited!)

But appetites can change and depending on what health issues a senior dog is dealing with, pill time can be a challenge. Daley certainly wasn’t a picky eater but he could be a tiger with medication—carefully sucking away every bit of the peanut butter or cream cheese disguise before casually discarding the misshapen pill on his way out of the kitchen.
Recently, a friend asked me if I had any tips for feeding pills. With Daley, once I discovered Greenies Pill Pockets, pill time was no problemo. I put the question to DDY’s
Facebook friends and got some great—and delicious!— feedback. (Click on the image for a larger view of the responses.) I’d love to hear more tasty tips so if you’ve found the perfect pill recipe, please share!

Some dog owners are so kind and gentle. Georgia’s get hers stuffed down her throat by my ham fist.
OK, so sometimes, a bit of peanut butter bikkie or steak follows the ham fist. Shhh. Don’t tell anyone though. I’d hate to be thought a softie.
Georgia Little Pea recently posted..Day 3.
Well, dear typist, if you haven’t been hardened by your recent stint in the stench trenches, I’d say you’re a softie through and through!
Thanks for stopping by,
