What is your senior dog’s “functional” age?

Editor’s Note: Today’s post is from DDY’s archives.

In Dr. Nancy Kay’s recent “Speaking for Spot” blog post, she advises against making treatment decisions for your senior dog based on age alone. Dr. Kay lays out the very cool concept of “functional age” and its components:

“When making decisions, savvy medical advocates evaluate the whole package—spryness, organ function, overall comfort, joie de vivre—rather than considering age alone.”

Dr. Kay’s short post provides an excellent reminder to not jump to “senior” conclusions. Read “Age is Just a Number” here.
